An ASC must, prior to the start of the surgical procedure provide and inform the patient with verbal and written notices of the patient rights. You must disclose to the patient responsibilities, notice of privacy practices, ownership and establish a grievance procedure. Once you are accredited or licensed you must post the notice of your achievement. Some accrediting organizations want you to post their patient rights and responsibilities. Check your accreditation website or standards manual. (AAAASF & AAAHC have specific rights and responsibilities they want you to post).
